cushion covers, capers and...

...my birthday!

I have celebrated my birthday by eating cheesecake for breakfast, yummy pastries for elevenses, pasta with pesto for lunch and fancy fish fingers with tomatoes and capers for dinner. It has been a feast day in the true use of the term. As I recently returned from the UK I have had to pass the day in my day in self-isolation at home so food was a pretty central theme, but then again, I think my birthday has always focused on food since I moved to Italy now ten years ago.

To celebrate the day I have also recovered three of our cushions for the living room as we moved house during the summer and I felt the sofa cushions didn't quite fit in with the new sofa. Therefore I detatched the skirt from a dress I love the fabric pattern of, but never wore, and attached it to our existing cushion covers. I think it worked really well and I am so happy this fabric will actually bring joy as it should.

Finally, I have caught up with friends and family via phone calls, video calls and messages. It has been a good day indeed. The only thing that could make this day better is some gelato, but there is still time for that!
